The University of Tasmania was founded over 123 years ago (Australia`s fourth oldest university). Today UTAS is recognised as an international leader, ranked in the top 3% of universities in the world. UTAS has strong links with universities, research institutes and industry across the globe. In 2012 UTAS research was ranked well above world-standard (ERA) in: clinical sciences; analytical chemistry; geology; oceanography; ecology; evolutionary biology; plant biology; forestry sciences; agriculture; land and farm managements.
